Vuongnd Travel is honored to introduce to you the following article: Travel Laos impressed with the city ‘sunset’ Luang Prabang.
Visiting the lovely ancient capital of Laos, and spending a few days dropping your soul in the beauty of both ancient and gentle in Luang Prabang, is a fun way for you to quickly find peace and balance in life.
I went to Luang Prabang in the afternoon, after the travel journey from Nong Khiaw. Luang Prabang is a very popular tourist city of Laos, situated on the banks of the romantic Mekong river, a place where my friends say that it is very comfortable and great for watching the sunset.
However, after I started my search for a hotel to stay, then I realized that this place is not necessarily comfortable as I imagined. The main reason is because I did not make a hotel reservation in advance, so the time I reached there coincided with the holiday in Laos, so most of the hotels here are already fully booked. If not, the price was increased by 50% compared to normal.
Luckily then I also found yourself a beautiful hotel, the price was acceptable. After finishing late lunch and arranging the luggage in place, I went out of the hotel and asked the way to the shores of the Mekong River to watch the sunset. The atmosphere here was really pleasant, and I suddenly discovered that, Mekong here is very different from the first time I saw the boat in Huay Xai. It is a river, but the beauty in each local, and I’m really interested to start exploring here.
Then, I went to the ferry terminal where I had an appointment with two friends named Chris and Dolf – here are my two friends who experienced a great period of Muang Ngoi Neua with me. We discussed together and planned a trip here, and the first intention was to eat or drink in a cozy riverside restaurant and end the day with a few bottles of beer Lao.
Enjoy the sunset from Mount Phou Si
The next day our travel plan had been changed, as Chris and Dolf wanted to Plain of Jars in Phonsavan, I decided to skip this place. I wanted to stay in Luang Prabang for two days, so I hired a bike to visit the city a bit.
After visiting a few temples, and markets I discovered an interesting exercise room here, and decided to drop by in the evening. Finally, as the plan outlined yesterday, I decided to climb Mount Phou Si to watch the sunset.
When reaching the top you will see a very beautiful temple called Wat Chomsi, from here you will release a panoramic 360 degree view around. Some tourists come to share with me that, you have to come early to get a good scenic location, if not very likely to be very crowded.
I climbed to the top of the mountain as the sun was still up, found a pleasant cliff, I sat down and waited for sunset. Time passed quickly when I turned back, I felt quite surprised to see so many tourists had coming, I was pretty excited because I had arrived early to get a perfect seat for sightseeing.
But the sunset here is not great compared to what I had seen in many different places, but to see a day finally coming down the river below, I felt extremely relaxing, a peaceful feeling difficult to describe.
Begging for alms – an unique feature of the culture of Laos
The next day I decided to go out to see the monks walking through the streets. As usual, the monks here often walk down the streets at dawn to get the food from the locals. At this point in the city, there are a lot of people and tourists waiting for the monks going through to put food into their hats. A scene is very solemn and quiet.
Miraculous beauty of Kuang Si waterfall
Then, I decided to rent a motorbike to ride to Kuang Si waterfall, a beautiful waterfall located about 30km from the city center. After starting and moving for a while, unfortunately I met tire problems, forcing me to stop. It’s unbelievable, I had to move almost 700km on motorcycles in Mae Hong Son area without stopping to fix the motorbike, while at that time I had to stop for repairs when the trip just began about 30 minutes. Luckily I did not have to go far to find an automotive repair, motorcycle repair guy here looked a little bit awkward but very cheerful and enthusiastic, and it took approximately 1 hour for the motorbike to be repaired, and I resumed my journey.
Kuang Si Waterfall – a waterfall with miraculous beauty is my last trip in Luang Prabang. Bathing and soaking in cool water flow here are great ways for you to relieve stress and fatigue.
Luang Prabang is a beautiful and peaceful city, a place worthy for you to spend a lot of time exploring and understanding.
